Spring Hinges
These are standard self-closing hinge that is coupled with an 8mm thick glass gate. When we install these, we offer our lifetime warranty. Spring hinges are a basic hinge, but sometimes basic can be more reliable. A drawback of spring hinges is the fact the gate will slam from the position it is let go. This is generally not a huge issue as most people close the gate behind them. The gate left to slam will not cause any technical difficulty or damage to your glass pool fence or hardware, it is just a little noisy. These hinges are available in polished mirror finish, satin finish and black. All colours are 2205 Duplex stainless steel.
In short, the downside is they can slam, the upside is that they are very easy to maintain and to adjust the tension on when needed.
Polaris ® 155 Hinges
Polaris Hinges are a stainless steel hydraulic hinge to suit an 8mm, 10mm or 12mm thick glass gate. Coming with a 2-year guarantee, Polaris hinges have adjustable tension springs and two hydraulic pistons to stop the slamming of your glass gate. The hinges close quickly until about 15 degrees, where the pistons engage and close the last part slowly to latch. These hinges are available in polished mirror finish, satin finish and black. All colours are 2205 Duplex stainless steel.
In short, the upside of Polaris hinges is the fact both hinges are engaged and working together. This makes Polaris hinges an extremely reliable option for enclosing swimming pools.
Orion Hydraulic Hinges
A far superior hydraulic hinge in our opinion, the Orion Hydraulic hinge is suitable for 8,10 or 12mm gates. The Orion Hinge comes with a 3 year Warranty. These hinges close to approximately 15-20 degrees quickly under chosen spring tension, then hit the hydraulic buffers and run the gate slowly to the closed position. These are available in Polished mirror finish, satin finish, black and white. All 2205 Duplex Stainless steel.
In short, this is the leading hinge for frameless glass pool gates and also offers the longest warranty of the bunch.
Polaris ® Polymer Hinges
These are suited to both Tubular and Perforated aluminium pool fencing. This latch works in the same way as the glass version, where they close to around 15 degrees, then hit the buffers and close slowly to close. These are available in Black only.
In short, these are a great way to put an end to the slamming and rattling aluminium gates are prone to. They do have a weight limit that means they are not suitable for Batten / Barr fencing applications.
D&D Fixed Tension Spring Hinge
The D&D fixed tension style spring hinges are a polymer hinge that are not adjustable and therefore only really suited to Tubular aluminium, basic standard size pool gates. These are available in Black only.
In short, this hinge is very basic and isn’t suited to heavier aluminium gates like Slimline Batten / Barr fencing.
D&D Deluxe Adjustable Spring Hinge
The D&D Deluxe Adjustable spring hinge gives you the flexibility to adjust the hinge tension when required. These hinges are available in both black and white.
In short, as per any spring hinge these will close with no buffering to soften the slam, although being adjustable, they can be adjusted to slow the close in some respect, or adjust up to fight against a strong wind installation. These also have a higher weight limit so they are well suited to Slimline Batten / Barr Fencing.
*All hinges, must be used and maintained as per manufacturer specifications/instructions. if gates are left in an open position for any lengthy period of time this will adversely affect the future operation of any hinge as they are all designed to self-close.
